Jackie's Closet - Pop-up

An innovative and fun philanthropic collaboration, Jackie’s Closet was a unique, community-oriented outreach fundraiser of the Jackie Speier Foundation. Donated items, from designer gowns to fashion accessories  created a shopping experience that was both worthwhile to  and meaningful to the shoppers.. At Treasure Paws, a thriving thrift store in Burlingame, supporters could reuse, recycle, and shop sustainably at the Jackie’s Closet exclusive pop-up shop from September 1 through October 31, 2025. The collaboration showed how repurposed goods, volunteer energy, and community generosity could have real impact.

What made Jackie’s Closet truly unique was its dual benefit model:

  • 50% of each sale went directly to the Jackie Speier foundation supporting programs that provide resources for women and children in San Mateo County. These funds will help address urgent needs such as poverty, housing and security, childcare access and domestic violence prevention

  • 50% supported Treasure Paws ensuring that a store can continue funding. It’s vital work with the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA and promoting sustainable consumer practices.

Jackie’s Closet was able to thrive because community volunteers kept the collection organized and replenished; donors contributed new and gently loved items, and shoppers fueled the mission by choosing to shop consciously. The cycle of generosity, not only raised critical funds, but also sparked awareness around conscious consumerism, proving that sustainable fashion can also be philanthropic. “Every purchase and donation helps transform lives. We were able to raise over $10,000 which will help women and children in our community. Thank you for supporting us,” says Carla Boragno, Advisory Board Chair of the Jackie Speier Foundation. Although this initiative is now over, please watch for our next initiative to raise funds for women and children in San Mateo County. Sign up to get notified here.
