We see every woman and child as individuals with unique stories, strengths and needs. Through empathy and understanding, we provide resources that help families make empowered choices and build independent lives.
The Jackie Speier Foundation (JSF) Student-Led Diaper Drive is a grassroots effort led by local high school student volunteers committed to helping local families facing the rising cost of diapers. Sequoia High School students hosted our latest Diaper Drive on Sep. 19, 2026. Learn more here.
Every initiative we launch starts with a question: what does the evidence say families actually need? Our commissioned reports dig into the realities of poverty in San Mateo County, from brain development in infancy to the true cost of child care, and the findings shape where we put our resources and our advocacy.
In May 2026, we hosted "Love Local", an event celebrating the Foundation’s accomplishments while raising more than $250,000 to advance innovative solutions for children and families throughout San Mateo County.
The Baby Bonus Program is our moonshot challenge to address child poverty, starting with newborn babies in San Mateo County.
In August 2023, we hosted the San Mateo Rising: Ending Child Poverty Summit, featuring insights from Dr. Matthew Desmond and other experts. This gathering marked the beginning of our community-driven approach to ending child poverty.
In September of 2024, we began an ongoing diaper drive initiative engaging a team of local high school student volunteers.
