Dear Friends,

I want to update you on the amazing progress that the Jackie Speier Foundation has made in the past few months.  On August 18th, 2023 the Jackie Speier Foundation held the first San Mateo County Rising: Ending Child Poverty Summit. Thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, speakers, and dedicated organizers, the Summit was a major success with over 300 attendees. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Summit facilitated innovative collaboration toward our efforts and we are so excited to continue working alongside some of our County’s most talented leaders, academics, activists, and experts in the field of poverty alleviation. However, we are not just talking, we are doing!

In just a few short months, the Jackie Speier Foundation, working with the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, created the Baby Bonus Program based on the research from NIH. We announced this groundbreaking initiative at the Summit that will launch in 2024. The Jackie Speier Foundation is also in the process of developing a program targeting eviction prevention in San Mateo County.
